Seriously, the title says it all. The solitary tree, bereft of leaves, could be representative of the loneliness of the human condition and the struggle to stay rooted to a life that at times seems like an uphill battle; the windmill could be a Quixotic reference, especially given its position near the sun - bright and hopeful, but ultimately unreachable; the emptiness of the landscape could be so in order to reinforce the the loneliness aspect, or to emphasize that this is all there is and even that is an illusion.
The last one is probably not the case, though. I'm fairly certain it's because I got bored and didn't want to draw any details in the landscape.
And when there are only the bones, and yourself, you see more of your own soul as well. Except, I guess, in a Labyrhinth, where there is always the chance that in the centre is a minotaur.

Daily Literature Deviations is a group that is dedicated to bringing literature to the forefront of the deviantArt community. We attempt to accomplish this by daily featuring Literature artists from around the community that deserve the recognition, but are not getting it.
Each day we will feature 10 deviations from the Literature categories in a News Article. In order to support the artists that we feature, we ask that you the news article as well as check out the individual pieces. We understand that each day you may not be able to check out each and every one of the pieces, everyone has their own things going on. We just ask that you make an attempt to help support the growing Literature community.
